Maxi-mizing Summer

I can't believe Summer's coming to a close. It seems only yesterday when I went legit crazy hoarding one-piece swimwear only to realise that Summer's nearly over and it's now time for my 3-year-old to start school this June. How time flies!

Cebu Bloggers, Cebu Fashion Blogger, Cebu Lifestyle Blogger, Cebu Beauty Blogger, Cebu Mommy Blogger, Travel, Beach, Cebu beaches, Costabella Beach Resort, Philippine Blogger, Asian, Beach outfit, maxi dress, How to wear maxi dress to the beach, what to wear to the beach, beach party outfit, beachside outfit,

The Summer months flew by so quickly, I didn't have enough time to frolic and bake and toast but I'm not complaining. Cebu badly needs rain what with dams and rivers drying up, and there's just no point praying for more Summer heat just to hit the beach. Besides, Summer is just a state of mind, right?

Cebu Bloggers, Cebu Fashion Blogger, Cebu Lifestyle Blogger, Cebu Beauty Blogger, Cebu Mommy Blogger, Travel, Beach, Cebu beaches, Costabella Beach Resort, Philippine Blogger, Asian, Beach outfit, maxi dress, How to wear maxi dress to the beach, what to wear to the beach, beach party outfit, beachside outfit,

But let's all be honest.. it's much better to visit your favorite beach when it's hot out and not raining, amiright? So please excuse me while go on a little sepanx spiel and post Summer photos here on the blog. Haha! Having said that, here's a beach outfit taken a few days before the summer months officially started and before my sister left for the US. Quite possibly the most appropriate sendoff for her because, 10°C NJ weather.

If white is the color that is synonymous to Summer in my vocabulary, maxi dresses are fast becoming my go-to beach outfit. Not only are they chic and comfortable, they're also very easy to wear, easy to pull off and easier to get out of. Ha! Whether you're wearing one as a beach coverup or a dress in itself, maxi dresses are must-haves that every woman needs to own. From pretty florals to minimalist solid colors to vibrant aztec prints, maxi dresses are anything but boring, so the next time you pack for another beach getaway, don't forget to throw in one together with your wide-brimmed hat and oversized sunnies ;)

So.. I will just leave this here to tide me over until my next beach adventure when the husband comes home ;) Counting the days!

Have a lovely weekend ahead, loves!

Naturactor Cover Face Concealer: How to Use, Photos and Mini Review

Every girl needs a good concealer in her beauty arsenal. Whether you have dark circles, red blemishes or acne scars, a good concealer can camouflage all these without having to pile on so much product thus allowing you to achieve that pore-less and flawless complexion without leaving a heavy feeling.

For someone who has sensitive skin, I always stick to products that I really swear by and those that I’ve used for quite some time. I am not one to test each and every new discovery in the market but if I see something promising, I, of course, make a conscious effort to go through the product description, list of ingredients and read reviews before I give in and road test it. It’s best to get to know the products you want to try by researching than by viva voce.

I’ve heard a lot of good reviews of Naturactor’s product line; from their concealer, to their pressed powder, down to their silky lucent loose powder. Beauty gurus and enthusiasts alike have, at one point, raved about how good Naturactor products are. The chances of reading bad reviews are slim to none, but the dead giveaway? The tag, Made in Japan. If products are from the Land of the Rising, trust that I would consider trying it 60-70 percent of the time.

Naturactor Cover Face Concealer Foundation can be used as a concealer or a full coverage foundation. It has a smooth, workable texture, is light and is perfect for days when you don't want to wear too much face products. It provides good coverage, is easy to apply and in my case, offers 6-hour wear without caking.

The Cover Face comes in 5 different shades.

In this post, I will show you guys how i use my Naturactor Cover Face Concealer in Shade 140.

I like to start my makeup routine with a treatment lotion before anything else (separate post to follow). It hydrates and prepares my skin for an even and smooth application of my makeup base and concealer. And because UVA and UVB are so unforgiving, one must not forget the sunblock.

This is me with just sunblock and eyebrow makeup on (to make me look more human. ha!)

Zoom in on the redness. Yes.

Using a flat foundation brush, pick up a small amount of product and tap it gently under your eye.

Make sure to use a light hand in picking up the product because a little goes a long way!

Using a beauty blender or a wedge, smoothen out the application even more by tapping gently onto the areas where you've applied the concealer.

Continue covering your problematic areas (sides of the nose and lips) using the same tapping technique of the foundation brush and beauty blender.

Continue blurring out the blemishes on the other side (under eye, around the nose and lip area.) Using what little product left on the beauty blender, I applied onto the rest of my face.

To keep the product from caking, spray on a little Evian water all over your face and continue blurring out uneven application using your blender.

For the finishing touch, always apply powder. Applying loose powder, often known as baking, is essential in achieving line-free and smooth concealer and helps lock everything in. To do this, use a loose powder and large powder brush to sweep the product all over your face. I am using Naturactor Silky Lucent Loose Powder in 41.

You can and may use a tapered kabuki brush to set your under eye concealer using the same loose powder and sweep off the excess using the large powder brush.

The Naturactor Cover Face Concealer did an exceptional job in covering the redness on my cheeks, nose and lip area as well as perfectly camouflaging my dark under eye. It's light, making you feel like you're not wearing anything at all. Just keep in mind to use a light hand when applying the product :)

Beachside Hangs wearing Trousers

Hanging out by the beach or the pool for a party doesn't necessarily mean that you have to wear shorts all the time. While it may be the best choice for all your beachside hangs, you can always opt to look for other options to stir things up a bit.

Case in point: White trousers to a beach party.

Cebu Fashion Blogger, Cebu Blogger, Cebu Lifestyle Blogger, HM x Movenpick Cebu, One-piece swimwear, maillot, Philippine Blogger, Beach outfit, beachside hangs, beach party outfit, Cebu resorts, Toni Pino-Oca, Cebu stylist

The color white is a perennial favorite when talking about a summer beach outfit. Not only does it highlight your gorgeous sun-kissed skin, it also absorbs less heat thus keeping you cool all throughout the day.

Cebu Fashion Blogger, Cebu Blogger, Cebu Lifestyle Blogger, HM x Movenpick Cebu, One-piece swimwear, maillot, Philippine Blogger, Beach outfit, beachside hangs, beach party outfit, Cebu resorts, Toni Pino-Oca, Cebu stylist

But what's a beach party without a gorgeous bikini?

Cebu Fashion Blogger, Cebu Blogger, Cebu Lifestyle Blogger, HM x Movenpick Cebu, One-piece swimwear, maillot, Philippine Blogger, Beach outfit, beachside hangs, beach party outfit, Cebu resorts, Toni Pino-Oca, Cebu stylist

If you're still working on losing that few extra pounds you gained over the holidays and a two-piece bikini isn't the thing for you just yet, fret not because maillots are making a huge comeback and they all come in gorgeous prints and colors.

This palm print one-piece swimwear is from H&M which was on sale BTW and at 50% discount at that! Ha! Talk about good luck. ;) I think I've worn this way too many times already that I'm afraid it won't last a year or two with constant use. But hey, at least it's giving me great mileage, yes?

So the next time you plan on enjoying happy hour at the beach, you might want to give this maillot + trousers combination a try (or a romper!)

Slightly Boho

On some days, we all just want to channel our inner Vanessa Hudgens and go all out (or in this case, slightly) bohemian.

Cebu Fashion Blogger, Blog, Outfit, Style, Boho Chic, Bohemian outfit, Philippine blogger, Summer outfits in the Philippines, Cebu Blogger, Off shoulder top, how to wear palazzo pants, fringe bag, H&M fringe bag

On days when I try to dress differently from my usual and preferred aesthetic, I always go for boho dressing-- something that I've always wanted to achieve but just can't quite keep up with. I don't know if that's my closet talking or I'm just really not the Gabriella Montez type. Either way, I still try to experiment just to keep things from looking too monotonous bordering on crazy boring.

Cebu Fashion Blogger, Blog, Outfit, Style, Boho Chic, Bohemian outfit, Philippine blogger, Summer outfits in the Philippines, Cebu Blogger, Off shoulder top, how to wear palazzo pants, fringe bag, H&M fringe bag

Off-shoulder tops has got to be the biggest trend this summer and I can't blame anyone who hoarded, and still hoarding, this cult favorite. Chic and comfortable, this is probably your best bet to beat the summer heat and if you've read my Cold Shoulder entry, you will know why this is fast becoming a personal favorite, too.

Cebu Fashion Blogger, Blog, Outfit, Style, Boho Chic, Bohemian outfit, Philippine blogger, Summer outfits in the Philippines, Cebu Blogger, Off shoulder top, how to wear palazzo pants, fringe bag, H&M fringe bag

To complete this slightly boho look, I paired this off shoulder top with my soft palazzo pants from H&M and a fringe bag to seal the deal. Nothing says boho like wide-leg trousers and fringe detail, yes?

Barbecue Nights at Circa 1900

Back in the 90s, Summer for me was synonymous to barbecue. Every chance we get, my cousins and I, along with our childhood friends, would gather almost every night to have bonfires, play games or just share stories. We'd pool money so we can buy the ingredients and shortly after dinner at our respective houses, we'd start to gather in the open field at the back of, coincidentally, all our houses. That was our playground, Manoy Tiyo's kasagingan (banana plantation), the place where summers were lit af until we all went to college and my cousins and i moved to our new homes.

In some fiction books I've read (read: teen novels lol), barbecue nights usually happen during Summer, as it should because the warm summer breeze calls for activities that are everything outdoorsy. And yes, you don't have to worry being blanketed in barbecue smoke while grilling because, breezeless summer nights. You all get the drift, right? ;)

But if you're not up to grilling your own meal and smelling like a skewered meat yourself, there's always Circa 1900 to save the day. Or night.

A few weeks ago, my friends from Cebu Fashion Bloggers and I, were invited over to try Circa 1900's latest offering, and as the title of this post suggests; Barbecue Nights at Circa 1900.

Over lighthearted conversations, we got to enjoy a wide array of their best dishes coupled with their famous bowl of green salad and good serving of Rosé. From US ribeye, to Persian chicken to Snapper fillet, it was one gastronomic feast that left too little room for dessert. haha!

If you're dining with your family or friends, you can try the family platter suitable for groups of (6) and that comes with a complimentary bottle of Morande Pionero Cabernet Sauvignon Syrah - Rosé that has the ability to highlight and balance at the same time the rich flavor of all the meat that you're having.
