Summer is the perfect time to experiment and learn something new. Be it a new sport, a new song, a new piano piece or a new hobby. With 3 long months of summer vacation, one is sure to find something to while away the time before school officially starts in June.
When I heard about Radisson Blu Cebu's Art Meets Tea series of watercolor and calligraphy workshops, I just knew this summer would be nothing short of colorful, literally and figuratively. From basic watercolor to modern and brush calligraphy and even watercolor on freeform flowers, you will never run short of options, be it for a newbie or an old enthusiast.
So last month, I sat down with friends from the media to witness Dr. Nanette Catigbe work her wonders on a blank watercolor paper. It was an afternoon affair of tea appreciation and a celebration of art at Radisson Blu Cebu’s Dilmah t-Bar. Friends from the media channeled their inner creative in between cups of Dilmah’s tea of the month, the Seasonal Flush. Brushes took on the color and whimsy of life as Dr. Nanette Catigbe conducted the still life watercolor workshop during the media launch of “Art meets Tea” last March 17.
A doctor by profession, Catigbe shares her passion for art by holding workshops on calligraphy, watercolor, mixed media, and polymer clay. She also bakes up a storm with her cake business, Mucchio di Bella Pastries and Art, which specializes in beautiful hand-painted cakes. Her cake art has also been featured twice in Cake Central Magazine USA consecutively.
Catigbe along with local Cebuano artists let you explore your artistic flair with Art meets Tea, a series of watercolor and calligraphy workshops at the Dilmah t-Bar. The coming weeks will be nothing short of imaginative as the following artists will be sharing their expertise on these dates: Wilbert Wee (Weebong) on basic watercolor on March 19; Dr. Nanette Catigbe on modern calligraphy on April 2; April Mae Valencia-Carillo (First of April) on brush calligraphy on April 9; Dr. Nanette Catigbe on watercolor on freeform flowers on April 17; Meream Pacayra (Bored and Crafty) on free form botanicals on April 23; and Dr. Nanette Catigbe on basic pointed pen calligraphy on May 7.
Get your creativity flowing while delighting in the tea inspired gastronomy of the sweet and savory 3-tier Signature Afternoon High Tea served with white toast with crab salad, whole wheat toast with camembert and truffle honey, rye bread sandwich with poached chicken and apple chutney, brie cheese quiche with caramelized pears, smoked salmon quiche with spring onion, chamomile baumkuchen slice, Dilmah green tea choux, Moroccan mint tea chocolate and raspberry tart, lady fingers filled with Jasmine tea and Gianduja cream, rose and French vanilla tea marble Gugelhupf, darlings noisette with rosehip and hibiscus piemontese cream with your choice of two cups of Dilmah tea for P980 net for two persons.
Open up to a world of color and imagination; discover Dilmah’s Signature Afternoon High Tea. Registration to the workshop is at Php 2,000 net per person inclusive of art kit and high tea buffet. Make this season of the sun vibrant and fun with “Art Meets Tea” at Radisson Blu Cebu.
