Nothing quite like a pretty wrap dress for an afternoon at the beach to lounge and de-stress.
Wrap dresses are once again thrusted into the limelight, thanks to Diane Von Furstenberg for re-introducing it into the fashion world with much pizzazz. Figure-flattering, versatile and timeless, a wrap dress can definitely take you from work week to weekend, day job to date night, boardroom to bar and ultimately, the beach.
Here are a few tips to get your wrap right.
It's all about the fit. While wrap dresses flatter most body types, there are some dresses that make you feel so little-- and by little I mean, little boobage action. But that's not really a problem because one quick visit to your seamstress can address that too lose a top. A little nip and a little tuck is what it needs to give you just the right fit.
Slip for the slit. Most dresses drape beautifully down to the hems but there are a few that has too short a cloth that it flaunts what is nobody's business. Unless you're wearing it as a cover-up, a slip is a must to prevent that embarrassing undie peep show.
Proper underwear, power shapewear. I don't really know why I said that, they don't even rhyme but whatever. Some wrap dresses come in soft jersey material that hugs the body like a glove and the last thing you want are those unsightly lumps and bumps. No body-shaming right there but sometimes, we all have to deal with these concerns aka hardcore truth and that's where your shapewear comes in. Tummy-toning and waist cinching shapers make one look svelte in a body-hugging jersey wrap dress. Invest in a good quality shapewear that is sure to last you a good 1-2 years.
A good wrap dress need not to be expensive. We've all been there, thinking that good fitting dresses are hard to find and expensive but that isn't the case of this printed wrap dress from Zaful. Made of soft polyester material, it is sheer enough to wear as a beach cover-up but is also office-appropriate given that you wear proper lingerie and a slip.
Take this wrap dress from the beach to the city by wearing a denim jacket, or to the office by wearing a blazer over it, a tank or cami when it's too loose around the chest area or even wear it with skinny jeans for that dress over pants trend. You can actually wear it with almost anything-- a definite must-have and a true MVP in your closet.

Choosing the right frame of sunglasses for your face shape can be a little more tricky than determining your skin's undertone. Finding the right frame for you can accentuate your best features while the ill-fitting specs highlight the bad ones.
I wasn't really particular about the frames of my sunglasses before. As long as they offered the right amount of protection, are sturdy and chic, I was sure to get one irregardless of frame shape and size. But as you age, you realise the importance of the little things like determining your face shape, buying the sunglasses that suit your face shape and saving money while doing so. If you haven't quite figured out yet the best frames for you, here's an infographic to help you get started:
If you have an oval face shape, characterised by balanced features and a chin slightly narrower than you forehead, then consider yourself lucky. Oval faces can pull off any frames and one frame that looks best for you is the Aviator style.
This style is timeless and popular-- a true classic, which explains why it is always on high demand. They come in different frame finish and lenses and one particular style that I absolutely love is the bold full metal side cover frame flat lens.
The full side cover frame makes it stand out from the rest of the aviator styles out in the market today and when I realised that DressLily carries them in different frame color, lens and material, I knew I had to add one to my arsenal! It's timeless, classy and unique-- qualities that you need to look for in a sunglasses (or any other purchase or investment for that matter.)
