I've always stayed away from midi skirts mainly because I thought my skinny ankles would "disappear" in them. My ankles have always been one of my insecurities and are the main reason why I never wear rubber shoes. I always thought that I look like Ronald McDonald while wearing a pair so back in college, I would skip P.E. class (don't tell my dad) on most days hence the almost always failing mark. A subject I was always skirting.
But seriously though, I just didn't want to dance in front of a lot of people.. in a basketball court.. wearing joggers that end right above my ankles and shoes that begin right below the hems. It just didn't feel right. Hahaha!
Why are we even talking about this? I swear, somewhere in here I had a point. LOL!
Seriously, I didn't really like midi skirts for the reason I gave above but with its resurgence and my favorite style stars wearing one every chance they get, I knew I had to give it a shot.
So give it a shot I did and boy did I love them! Not only are they easy to style, they're also the next best thing to cropped pants. And I really, really love cropped pants!!
Skirts that are long enough to cover your gams from the heat (or from being catcalled. ugh) but short enough of a hem that it doesn't graze the floor easily made them a closet favorite.
Paired this with a pair of pointy slip-ons where the vamp exposes just the right amount of skin-- drawing attention away from my skinny ankles and giving the illusion of longer legs despite the skirt's length.
Now that I've worked my way around this insecurity, expect a couple of outfit photos wearing one of this year's biggest trend-- the asymmetrical midi skirt!
