Back in the 90s, Summer for me was synonymous to barbecue. Every chance we get, my cousins and I, along with our childhood friends, would gather almost every night to have bonfires, play games or just share stories. We'd pool money so we can buy the ingredients and shortly after dinner at our respective houses, we'd start to gather in the open field at the back of, coincidentally, all our houses. That was our playground, Manoy Tiyo's kasagingan (banana plantation), the place where summers were lit af until we all went to college and my cousins and i moved to our new homes.
In some fiction books I've read (read: teen novels lol), barbecue nights usually happen during Summer, as it should because the warm summer breeze calls for activities that are everything outdoorsy. And yes, you don't have to worry being blanketed in barbecue smoke while grilling because, breezeless summer nights. You all get the drift, right? ;)
A few weeks ago, my friends from Cebu Fashion Bloggers and I, were invited over to try Circa 1900's latest offering, and as the title of this post suggests; Barbecue Nights at Circa 1900.
Over lighthearted conversations, we got to enjoy a wide array of their best dishes coupled with their famous bowl of green salad and good serving of Rosé. From US ribeye, to Persian chicken to Snapper fillet, it was one gastronomic feast that left too little room for dessert. haha!
If you're dining with your family or friends, you can try the family platter suitable for groups of (6) and that comes with a complimentary bottle of Morande Pionero Cabernet Sauvignon Syrah - Rosé that has the ability to highlight and balance at the same time the rich flavor of all the meat that you're having.
Each dish comes with a Circa Garden Salad and a Garlic Mash or Thai vegetable fried rice. Something that all you salad eaters, myself included, would definitely enjoy.
Should you wish to enjoy the dishes individually and have a good serving all to yourself, here's a list to give a better idea of what you're about to indulge yourself in.
Tamarind Garlic Calamares Skewers with Coriander Ginger Prawns (P645)
Mirin and Yellow Miso Glazed Snapper Fillet with Basil and Black Sesame Seeds (P495)
Korean Style Extra Spicy Pork Ribs (Dwaeji Galbi) served with Cabbage Kimchi (P495)
Persian 1/2 Chicken, Yoghurt Aioli and BBQ dipping sauce (P395)
US Beef Eye with Black Pepper, Mustard & Aussie Beef Sausage, Cabernet Sauvignon Jus & Mushrooms (P695)
One of the best things about dining in this upscale restaurant?
You get to be serenaded with live music all throughout the evening. Major cheeseball moment right there, I tell ya.
